Where children grow with confidence and care

Deep Run Presbyterian Nursery School has been serving children 1-5 years old since 1959. Qualified early childhood professionals lead the way.

How we see children

At Deep Run Presbyterian Nursery School, we believe every child deserves a strong sense of self worth. We encourage progress at a child’s own pace, while introducing cognitive, social, and language art skills. Our play-based preschool offers a balance of shared and independent learning experiences. Teachers create an environment that supports learning, emotional development, and social growth. Each class has a weekly music class with exciting musical and movement experiences.

Our classrooms are set up to support exploration and learning. Teachers work closely with children, responding to their needs and interests. Small groups allow for focused attention and interaction. We invite guest visitors and take field trips to enrich our curriculum. These experiences help children connect learning to the world around them.

All staff members are qualified early childhood professionals. They are first-aid and CPR certified and have Act 151 clearances. We follow a philosophy that values emotional, physical, social, and intellectual growth. Our programs are designed to help children develop skills for school and life.

What you notice in practice

Teachers work at eye level with children, following their interests and leading small group activities. They create a safe and encouraging environment where children feel comfortable exploring and learning. Teachers observe and respond to each child’s needs throughout the day.

Classrooms are set up with learning centers that support different areas of development. The day is paced to allow time for play, rest, and structured activities. Teachers guide children through transitions and routines in a calm and consistent way.

How we work with families

At pickup, parents often hear about the day’s activities and how their child is doing. Teachers are available to answer questions and share observations. Children learn to follow classroom rules and routines. They build pre-kindergarten skills like listening and fine motor abilities.
